Job Definition
The Education Liaison is a new full-time position at FNC’s Family Resource Center, located at UP Academy in Dorchester. This position will work closely with FRC staff to support and improve student outcomes through family engagement, resource referral and coordination and collaboration with community partners, including Boston Public Schools and MA Department of Children and Families, providing a network of support to families with school age children.
Essential Skills:
• Familiarity with urban elementary school systems
• Advocacy and case management
• Facility with databases (Salesforce experience preferred)
• Design and implement responsive programming
• Effective communicator
o knowledge of student/family needs-based assessment
o awareness of community and school based resources and referral process
o focus on coordination of services to avoid duplication
o recommend and refer students to appropriate services
o demonstrate and communicate an integrated approach with families and systems
o track and analyze data
o recommend best practice
o document and measure improvement
o employ entrepreneurial approach in start-up role
o promote successful outcomes
o represent and advance programmatic goals within the community
o influence strategy at the local and statewide level
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in Education or Social Work; experience working with families, knowledge of community- based organizations and/or public schools in ethnically and economically diverse neighborhoods.
Availability to work some evenings and weekends. Bachelor’s Degree and 2-3 years experience in education, family support or related field required, Masters Degree preferred. Ability to work independently and be part of a team; excellent communication skills.
