TITLE: BODY SHOP FOREPERSON

DEPARTMENT: BUS OPERATIONS-EVERETT MAIN REPAIR FACILITY
AFFILIATION: ALLIANCE OF UNIONS
SALARY RANGE: $42.75 PER HOUR
JOB SUMMARY:
The Body Shop Foreperson will supervise, direct, plan and assist in the activities of multiple work
crews under his/her jurisdiction in the individual repair sections of Everett Bus Main Repair Shop.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect and profile all buses entering Everett Bus Main Repair Shops for repair.
Coordinates the repair work within the proper areas of the shop.
Communicate daily with garage Forepersons establishing repair numbers for buses arriving/departing from
Everett Bus Main Repair Shops.
Coordinate the daily relocation of all bus moves within the yard and the mechanical, body and paint shops.
Coordinate the removal of all bus and non revenue vehicles and equipment disposition process to include
dealing with vendors for pick-up and exchange of vehicle titles.
Inspect all jobs to ensure that work schedules are being met and standards of productivity, quality, and safety
are upheld.
Order, schedule, and expedite the materials and equipment necessary to complete the projects in his/her area.
Document, maintain and prepare required maintenance records on manual and automated systems.
Ensure that all inventory levels, equipment and facilities under his/her jurisdiction are protected and
maintained in a safe operating condition.
Drive a company or personal vehicle to visit work sites and/or transport crews or equipment as needed.
Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor or co-worker in a courteous and professional
manner.
Respond, either directly or through others, to emergencies twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per
week.
Uphold the rights and interests of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with
employees.
Assist in the management of a workforce by ensuring the fair and consistent application and strict
adherence to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the
Authority including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies.
Perform related duties and projects as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

-A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) with the ability to comprehend, communicate and respond
to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc. in English.
-Three (3) years of experience in bus repair.
Effective organizational and analytical skills.
-The ability to use Word, Excel or Database applications.
-The ability to pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check and background screenings;
and the MBTA’s medical requirements, including a physical examination and drug and alcohol
screening.
-The ability to provide internal and external customers with a courteous and professional experience.
-Have a satisfactory work record for the two (2) years immediately prior to the closing date of this
posting, including overall employment, job performance, discipline and safety records (infractions
and/or offenses occurring after the closing of the posting and before the filling of a vacancy may
preclude a candidate from consideration for selection).
-Have the ability to work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed.
-Be available to work twenty four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.
The ability to supervise and work effectively with a diverse workforce.

PREFERENCES INCLUDE:
A technical degree; maintenance training from a technical institute or related technical certificates;
and/or related experience in a supervisory capacity.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
A valid driver’s license.
